Five factors that increase energy bills – Wallside Inc identifies the five major things that cause high residential energy bill

According to government statistics, the average U.S. household spends about $1,300 each year on utility bills. Wallside Inc —the largest retailer/manufacturer of windows in a single geographic market in the United States—has identified the five major factors that consistently affect consumer energy bills.

The factors that affect your energy bill, include:

1. The size of your home

2. The efficiency of major appliances, such as the refrigerator, hot water heater, air conditioner, oven, etc.

3. Home sealing and insulation

4. Local energy rates and overall regional weather patterns

5. Usage-related variables: the number and kinds of lights, thermostat settings for heating and cooling, the number of loads of laundry you do, and if you have a pool or hot tub.

Industry experts also noted that worn windows are perhaps the most significant source of energy loss—with temperature differences of at least ten degrees around a home’s windows. The cost for replacement windows in a home with existing older wood or aluminum windows will likely be recovered in five to seven years through reduced home cooling and heating costs, according to Wallside Inc.

Founded in 1944, Taylor, Michigan-based Wallside Inc specializes in the manufacturing and installation of custom-built vinyl replacement windows, and offers a variety of styles such as: bay, bow, sliding, garden and picture windows. For more information on the company, please visit Wallside Inc.
